Blue Nose / Club Champs

Again this year we used the Blue Nose regatta hosted by the Kits YC as our club champs for the Lasers and Radials.

We had a total of 16 sailors compete over the weekend .

The breeze was decent on the Saturday and real light on the Sunday. The race commitee did a good job getting races off each day .

Alanna was dominant in the Radials with 5 firsts and dropping a 3rd in the last race. Joanna Moore was a solid 2nd , finishing with a 2,1.

Natalia sealed the all girl top 3 with good results all weekend. Jaime and Alberto filled out the top 5.

In the Lasers Ricardo and Luke battled at the front all weekend with Ricky finishing on top of the ex world champion.

Alex , Kyle and Kevin rounded out the top 5 for the Club Champs scoring.

This was our last regatta till the new year , the end of the year banquet is coming up November 25th.

See you there
Al

Breeze on in October

October Weekend Training

October has been a great month but a little light on the breeze, Saturday was the exception, we had upward of 15kts.

We had perfect sunshine and the team worked hard on mark roundings and sailing fitness.

We started the day with a laser slalom, then pandora's box starting drills, from there we leap froged up to the mile markers, then a full speed reach ac ross the bay and home.

Pumkin Bowl 2008

Definitely some light air sailing on Saturday!

Pumpkin Regatta

The trip across the bay was alot of work for 10 km as the crow flys.

We loaded the big trailer on Thursday night after training, it rained hard all that evening but we got it done.

We had 25 lasers for the event , a massive turn out. A good group of Opti's were there as well, probably 40 members of our race team were in attendance!

The weather didn't co operate all weekend and we ended up with just 3 races over two days, oh well you cant control the weather.
West Van put on a good event and the dinner and prize giving were top notch

Results are at www.wvyc.bc.ca

One result of note was Thomas winning the first and only race on Saturday in the first race he ever sailed in a full rig and ended up 3rd overall, well done Tom!

Also Beckey Powers, a new member of our team from Newfoundland, won the womens Radial division.
Jon Scott won the mens.

Thanks
Al
